The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005): to start off, the books are freaking amazing and i've loved them for years. this is actually the first time seeing a movie where i've read the book prior, but i didn't like knowing everything that was about to happen. so down with books i say. oh wait. no, i've seen the blockbuster gayness that was called 1984. i didn't like aslan's voice being done by neeson. it was a strong voice and all, but too wussy-like. should have been like james earl jones maybe. there were lots of continuity problems that are hard to overlook. the kids did a good job. some were annoying, but i think that was the point. the one girl has huge lips that are actually kind of distracting. as far as all the christian themes, they won't be prominent unless you go into the movie expecting it or looking for it. special effects were really good. i just don't think they paid a lot of attention to the small details. then again, it is set for a kid audience. all in all, it was decent. i'm hoping they make the rest of the movies because the stories get so much more interesting as time goes on. the first one is really cut and dry. i don't think i'll be buying this unless the others rock. my advice is to skip the movie and read the books. they aren't the behemoths like harry potter, but barely over 200 pages. for those who haven't actually read a book since high school, i suppose you should just see the movie. it is really accurate to the book and entertaining. so there you go.
Madagascar (2005): i'm not sure why out of all the stupid talking animal computer animated movies that are in theaters each week, i thought this would be good. after shark tale and this, i've decided that no matter how good it looks or how many b-actors are in it, i probably won't be seeing anymore of these. they just aren't my thing. it sucks though because that hedge movie and cars both look good. i'll stick with big people movies though like hostel and the new world. for a talking animal computer animated movie, it was good i suppose. i didn't find it as funny as those around me also watching it. i don't know. i guess if you are into these movies or if you are a parent, then it's worth seeing. whatever.
had a law school false alarm yesterday. got a letter in the mail from uva and i assumed it was my rejection letter. i figure that since they are they hardest school to get in that i applied to, they took one look at my numbers and in their process of elimination, i was the first group to go. and they being the thoughtful bunch they are, decided to just get it over with instead of having me wait months to find out. turned out being just their acknowledgement of my application. i'm a little worried about the university of denver because they and one other school have not yet requested my report from lsac. everyone else at this point is now part of the waiting game. i suppose i can call their admissions office but i don't want to bug them about it. maybe next week. speaking of alarms. school is crappy right now. i got a new computer game for christmas and i have no time to even install it. i have about 3,000 papers that are next to the shredder that need shredding. there are over a dozen dvds that i own that are fairly new that i haven't gone through yet. then there is homework somewhere in all of this. oh, and i still don't even know what to do about my two monday night classes i'm taking. it's near impossible to miss a single class of computerized legal research, but i have to go to the other one some of the time.
the jeep is finally supposed to be picked up today. i won't hold my breath, but i've been told that it is finally all worked out. i have things to do today, so goodbye.
